Tsuchiyu Onsen
A nature-rich hot spring town set between the mountains, Tsuchiyu Onsen carries a history that stretches back over 1,000 years. A river flows through the heart of the town, and numerous inns line its banks. The area is also home to Japan’s distinguished kokeshi dolls. Visitors who enter the town are greeted by a giant kokeshi as they cross the main bridge, and all throughout the town visitors can see sites that speak of Tsuchiyu Onsen’s rich history.
Set amongst beautiful natural scenery, take a picturesque walk around town and visit one of the 4 foot-spas, or in the warmer months hike into the mountains to experience the magnificent Onuma, Menuma, and Nidanuma ponds.
