Kyu Horikiri-tei

The Horikiri family greatly contributed to the regional economy as village officials in the Edo period by amassing wealth and helping farmers during the famine. The current grounds are about 4,000 sq. m. The jukken-gura, Fukushima is Prefecture’s largest storehouse, which depicts life at the time and has been designated a Fukushima City tangible cultural property. Visitors can relax with a soak in the foot bath or hand bath (wheelchair users can remain seated) while looking out over the garden. It is beautiful in any season.

Kyu Horikiri-tei does not have a car park, but you can use the free car park for Paruse Iizaka Convention Hall and Sabakoyu hot spring. There is also a paid car park nearby.
It is 500m from the Paruse Iizaka car park to Kyu Horikiri-tei.

With help from staff, you can change to the indoor wheelchair and see the main house. The main gate and several other buildings have ramps over the steps and you can enter with your shoes on.
